Elly is very tall for her age, with striking auburn hair that tumbles haphazardly around her shoulders in tight curls. She has brown eyes, long brown eyelashes and lots of ginger freckles. Elly's long limbs should make her appear graceful, but the way she frequently stands with one hand on her jutted-out hip actually accentuates how angular her form is, with pointy elbows and knobbly knees. Elly also has rather a pointy chin and slightly pointy ears (usually covered by her hair), but, being eleven, she doesn't really notice her own appearance all that much.

Elly is very bright, bubbly and cheerful. If you don't immediately spot her because of her height or manic orange hair, you'll certainly hear her - Elly is not a quiet girl. She has a bit of a giggling problem and once she starts laughing it's hard for her to stop. She is very laid-back, undeniably cheeky, loves practical jokes, and lives for the outside. She loves sports and her favourite food is chocolate cake.

Elly is the first witch in an all-muggle family as far as she cares to trace back. Her father works away a lot, her mother's personality clashes with Elly's, so they've never got on very well. Elly has never has a brother, sister, or a pet. Elly had more than enough friends at her muggle school, and hopes she'll be just as popular at Sonora.

Elly is mortally afraid of cows. She hates the way they always stare as you walk across a field, the way their tails can just flick around as if of their own accord. Don't ask Elly about cows, she'll get very upset.
