| Anne Wright | |
| Description: |
Anne is a little taller than the average eleven-year-old girl, but not much. She has long black hair, big dark eyes, and is often thought to look a bit like Anne Boleyn, the Queen of the Thousand Days she was named for. She has a direct, challenging stare beneath arched brows, and a quick, warm smile. |
| Personality: |
Although Anne is a pureblood, she has no prejudice against those of Muggle decent and even feels more comfortable with them. She has the classic Charleston accent and is very proud of it and the rest of her Southern heritage. She likes flying almost as much as she likes reading because she associates it with her parents. She appears confident, easy going, and friendly to outsiders, but it's all a cover for deep-rooted insecurity. Anne's wit and hint of dry sarcasm hide her vulnerability and her fear of other people hurting her. She covers up her weaknesses with a facade of her personality before tragedy struck her family and took away much of her ability to trust. She also has a temper that can be very sharp when she's made angry, and class snobbery and lack of respect for grief are the two things that unleash that temper the worst. |
| History: |
Anne was born in Charleston, South Carolina and had the luxury of never living anywhere else. Her mother, Mary St. Martin, came from one of Charleston's best pureblood families while her father, John Wright, came from one of California's poorest pureblood families. When Mary was thrown out of the St. Martin family because of her marriage, she and John decided to live and raise Anne incognito in Muggle Charleston. Anne grew up going to Muggle public schools during the day and slipping out into the marshes to play Quidditch with her parents in the evenings. Although her mother's family rejected her completely and her parents had a habit of getting into nasty fights, Anne felt that she had a good and happy life until one dark February night the year she turned eleven when her mother was killed by a stray bullet in a standoff between police officers and car thieves. The family insisted that it be put in the records that she died in a wreck instead. Overnight, Anne's comfortable life fell apart, and with it her assurance of her place in the world. The same day her mother was buried, her father swore he never wanted to see Anne or anyone who had anything to do with the St. Martins again and left for Nevada, leaving Anne in South Carolina with no one to fall back on. In a rare moment of pity, her maternal grandmother, Eileen St. Martin, took her in and resolved to try to undo Anne's tolerant upbringing and bring her into the fold. Anne lived with her Grandmother St. Martin for seven months before coming to Sonora and hated every moment of it. She was Sorted into Aladren. |
| Fear: |
Anne's worst fear is having someone she cares about leave her and hurt her the way her father did when he abandoned her. |
| Desire: |
Her greatest desire would be to have her family intact again, but since that's not possible she'd be willing to settle for being able to trust again. |
| Other/b> |
Anne is a reasonably good player of both Quidditch and Quodpot and doens't hold that one is better than the other as some do. Anne is very talented musically. Anne's grandmother, Eileen, tried to have her last name changed to St. Martin but failed because her father had never formally signed away his rights to her. Anne's best friend, Geoffrey Layne, will probably join her at Sonora next year unless his parents change their mind for the hundreth time. Since Anne's forced entrance into the pureblood world, there has been some talk about Geoffrey as a possible match for her. Anne's father, John, is currently making his living as a card sharp in Las Vegas. Anne wrote to him once and the letter was returned unopened. |
